Every year Messiah hosts an Annual Give-Away. Items are collected throughout the year--from clothing for men, women, boys, and girls, to bedding, dishes, hygiene products, laundry items, even produce. You name it, it's probably here. Hundreds of people come to "shop" at the Give-Away.  It is open for all those who need it.

In 2004, Messiah members saw a need in the community, and decided to do something about it. The local Salvation Army serves breakfast and supper during the week, but not the weekend, which is where Saturday Suppers come in. Since its beginning, the program has served about 85,000 free meals. All who need a meal--and good company--are welcome. Supper is served in the basement of Messiah Church Saturdays from 4:30 - 5:30pm.

The Middle and High School-aged youth from Messiah and St. Stephen's gather together one evening a month at a member's house for fellowship and open dialogue. Every February, volunteers donate their time and a laundry basket full of cleaning and hygiene supplies to those who need extra help. We see this as simply doing our part to help the community "take a load off." 

Our Messiah Church women's group is part of the larger denominational society: Women of the ELCA, or WELCA. WELCA meet once a month at Messiah for a business meeting and Bible study, which is followed by some social time and dessert. The atmosphere is supportive and relaxed. WELCA also send out cards and letters, and visits the homebound, including a monthly visit to Lebensraum for Bingo.We welcome and encourage all women to join us!
